The Windy City

Jimmy and I had a wonderful time this past weekend shooting our first downtown Chicago wedding! We weren't sure what to expect on Saturday since we had never met Brittany and Kevin before (They studied law at Tulane and currently live in New Orleans!) but they had a gorgeous wedding day! The weather was perfect and as the day went on, every location we shot at got better and better, making their Same Day Edit so fun to piece together!

Brittany and Kevin both got ready at Palmer House located downtown Chicago.

After getting ready, we left Palmer House and hopped onto the trolley with the wedding party. We then drove around to take offsite location pictures (and video in our case!). Chicago is such a beautiful city!

Their ceremony and reception were held at Pazzo's @ 311. Saturday was the first time we had ever shot a wedding at Pazzo's and we are absolutely in love with all of the natural light that this venue has to offer! The towering palm trees added a nice touch to Brittany and Kevin's ceremony, and it almost felt as if we were down in New Orleans! :)

In an earlier post I shared my idea of using the seating cards that we receive at weddings as a part of our own wedding. Brittany saw that post and had seating cards made specifically for us to use! We thought that was awesome and we are so happy to include that little piece of their day in our own!

Also, I wanted to mention that we had a wonderful day working with the photographers that we have chosen for our own wedding! ;) I'll talk more about them on Thursday, so check back in a couple of days!! (SOOOO EXCITED!!!!)

Weekenders

We had such a fun Saturday with Brooke & Tyler! Personally, I love outdoor weddings and couldn't have been more thrilled to shoot in such a beautiful location! [embed]https://vimeo.com/73086847[/embed]

Brooke, a coal-miners daughter, and Tyler, a simple coal-miner himself, had a very unique way of saying their vows! They wanted personal vows, but they couldn't read them themselves without tearing up (sooo cute! :)), so they had their officiant read them instead! How cool?! I had never thought of doing that before!

Brooke also surprised Tyler with a second gorgeous/ super sassy wedding gown at their reception! Check out their same-day-edit to see for yourself!

I'd like to give a shout out to Andy, one of our interns, for braving the heat with us and joining in all the fun that was Brooke + Tyler's big day!

All In A Day's Work

We had an amazing time with Trent + Lauren this past Saturday! The first time we met was the day we shot their proposal. Since then, we had been counting down to their BIG day, knowing it would be absolutely perfect! And it was indeed prefect! :) [embed]https://vimeo.com/60916454[/embed]

When we arrived at the Ritz Carlton, Trent was so excited! I don't think he ever stopped smiling! He immediately sat down to write his love letters to Lauren, which we had designed himself (such a nice touch!).

Soon after, a questionable breakfast arrived. Everyone hesitated at the sight of something completely smothered in cheese and bacon. One brave man stepped up to try it, and I quote, "I don't know what it is, but I'm about to devour it, so that's good!" Watch their Same-Day-Edit below for more details!

If you're not familiar with a Same-Day-Edit, then here you go! This is how is all goes down. Once we get to the reception, one of us will shoot, while the other edits. In this case, I shot the reception while Jimmy edited Trent + Lauren's SDE. Once Jimmy was finished, we switched places and I made the final finishing touches. It helps to have a second set of eyes to check it out before we show it! Go teamwork! ;)

Trent + Lauren's day was beautiful, or as Lauren's niece would put it, "It's gorgeous!"
